Bartlett’s Rātā- 100 seeds - Metrosideros bartlettii

Description

This species is endemic to New Zealand and is notable for both its extreme rarity and its white flowers, somewhat uncommon in that genus of red-flowered trees and plants. Only 13 plants exist in the wild.
Grows up to 30 metres tall, with a trunk diameter of 1.5m.
Bartlett's rātā grows readily from fresh seed, which is sprinkled on top of the growing medium and not covered. Once germinated, they prefer sunny sites with fertile, well drained soil. They have a tolerance of mild frosts, but cannot withstand heavy frosts or snow.
